Irene Fay (Parker) Bunce
Irene Fay (Parker) Bunce, age 82 of Erie, entered into God's hand peacefully, Sunday, August 29, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her spouse of 40 years and other close family members, at the Abington Crest Nursing Center, Erie. She was born in Snyder County, Pa. on July 16, 1928 a daughter of the late Ammon and Mary (Brubaker) Parker. She graduated from Selinsgrove High School in 1946 and attended Bloomsburg State College. She married Merrill Troutman who preceded her in death in 1948. She gave birth to twin sons who also preceded her in death. She was employed by the PA State Unemployment Office in Meadville, Pa. for 15 years. She is survived by her husband and best friend, William M. Bunce. Five brothers, Neal Parker and his wife, Elfrieda, Lowell Parker and his wife, Trudy, Otis Parker and his wife, Julia, Ivan Parker and his wife, Mary and Myes Parker one sister, Pearl Adams Goodling. A stepson, Gregory A. Bunce. Four sisters in law, Elizabeth Parker, Florence Bunce, LaMerne Wardian and Betty Galbo and her husband, Phil. Her oldest brother, Paul Parker preceded her in death. Irene was a fun loving prankster, with a unique sense of humor. The biggest joys of her life were gardening, collecting items, going to yard sales, and spending time with her family. She was creative and turned junk into decorative novelties. She enjoyed sharing gifts with others. Friends may call at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, Pa. on Friday, September, 3, 2010 from 1 p.m.until the time of the Funeral Service there at 2 p.m. Local arrangements are in charge of the Merle E. Marilyn Allene Clark
Marilyn Allene Clark, age 79, of Upper Arlington and formerly of Edinboro, Pa., passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at home with her family. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Glen and Nina Hecker. Marilyn is also preceded in death by brothers, Martin and Irvin; and sister, Millicent. She received her Bachelor's in Social Work in 1957 from Edinboro College and received her nursing degree from the University of Buffalo. She served on several fundraising groups, especially for Cystic Fibrosis and Children's Hospital. Marilyn was also a 20-year volunteer at Muirfield Golf Course. She had a joy for crafts and shopping. Marilyn was a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed cruises and loved her yearly trips to Vegas. Marilyn will be remembered for her love and caring for others. She is survived by her children, Lori and her husband, Wayne, Kari and her husband, Chuck and Jodi; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Dustin, Carina, Jamie, Jaclyn, Garrett and Julia; great grandson, Ben; and brother, Bernard Hecker. Frank Arthur House
Frank Arthur House, age 53, of Erie, was welcomed home by the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2010. He was born in Erie on September 26, 1956 to Claudie and Elouise McWilliams House of Erie. As a lifelong Erie resident, Frank graduated from East High School in 1974 and was previously employed at the former Hammermill Paper Co. Frank loved the Lord and was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church before becoming a faithful member of Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he served in the Men's Fellowship Group. He enjoyed writing poetry, playing cards, fishing, softball, and basketball. Frank loved his family, had a generous heart, a good sense of humor, and was a friend to many. He will be dearly missed. Frank was preceded in death by three brothers, Claudie Jr., Gregory and Henry House, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Nikisha House of Erie and a son, Jamie House, Sr. (Corinna Acie) of Owings Mills, Md.; three brothers, Douglas (Katrina), Craig, and Maurice Sr. (Regina) House, all of Erie; three sisters, Clara Darby, Gwendolyn and Vivian House, all of Erie; a grandson, Jamie House, Jr. of Owings Mills, Md.; two favorite uncles, Namon (Brenda) McWilliams, Sr. and Abram Howze, both of Erie; also many other loving aunts and uncles, favorite nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Stella D. "Estel" Larsen
Beloved Mother Stella D. "Estel" Larsen, age 80, of Erie, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 at Ball Pavilion. She was born in Erie on August 29, 1930, daughter of the late Theodore and Genevieve Dubinski. Stella was a member of St. James R.C. Church. She was a waitress at many restaurants including The Buoy, Damore's and Holiday Inn South. Stella was once active with the Erie Clowns, and had volunteered as a grandparent with the reading program at Burton Elementary. Stella loved to cook and was known for her generosity in sharing with the neighbors. She enjoyed walking, attending the JFK Senior Program, and going to performances at The Erie Playhouse. Stella is the beloved mother of five children, Susan Beck (Buddy) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Pamela Anderson (friend, Marty Brooks) and J.R. Larsen (friend, Laurie Petroff all of Erie, Jack Larsen (Rachelle) of San Antonio, Texas, and Angelique Carmello (Nick) of Tega Cay, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Corrine, Nicole, Karl, Kayla, Tristyn, Cheyanne, Juliana and Nathan; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Olivia and Delila; two sisters, Irene Bukowski (Edward) and Helene Dombrowiak; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert; one brother, William Dubinski; and one sister, Harriet Anderson. She was married to Robert V. Larsen (deceased). The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brevillier Village for the care and support of their mother. Irene May Reed
In loving memory of Irene May Reed, our mother, grandmother and great-grandma Irene who passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home on Shadyside Rd., Findley Lake, N.Y. Irene was born in McKean, Pa., daughter of Lavern and Mae Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents LaVern and Mae, her brother Harold Spencer, sister LaVera Rouse and brother Gerald Spencer. Also husband Theron Reed, Irwin and Letha Reed, step-father Clarence Cockburn, brother-in-law Byron Rouse, sisters-in-law Ruth Spencer and Ardith Slefkin and brother-in-law Joe Hasbrouck. Irene graduated from Wesleyville High School. In earlier years she was a homemaker and she and Theron operated a meat market at the Snow White in Sherman, N.Y. She also helped run the lunch counter at Reed Sales Barn in Sherman. After moving to Erie, Pa. she was sales clerk at the Boston Store before becoming employed at the Erie Times Newspaper, Erie, Pa. Irene was guild treasurer for the Erie Newspaper Guild for twenty years. She also was the first woman that held the position of outside sales in classified advertising. She held this position until retirement. Irene was a happy lady who loved life. She always had a kind word for everyone. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. Even when she was so ill she blessed us with her smile. She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed sharing her little place on the lake with family and friends. Irene is survived by her daughter Sherril Rater and son-in-law Lawrence Rater of Findley Lake, N.Y. Her grandsons Michael Rater and wife Grisel, Sherman, N.Y. Gregory Rater and wife Sherri, Sherman, N.Y. Brian Rater and wife Julia Rose, State College, Pa. and Andrew Elliott and wife Andrea, Dunedin, New Zealand. Also survived by sister-in-law Fern Mary Hasbrouck, Jasper, Ga., brother-in-law Charles Reed and wife "Honey" of Westfield, N.Y. She was Grandma Irene to her eleven great-grandchildren; Julia Mae, Gabriel, Sofia and Lucas Rater, Sherman, N.Y., Hannah, Isabella and Amelia Rater, State College, Pa., Adrienne and Nicholas Frew, Sherman, N.Y. and Ashley and Samantha Stevenson, Dunedin, New Zealand. She was aunt and "auntie" to her many nieces and nephews. After her sister Vera passed she became especially close to her niece Roxanne Bochek of Gloucester, Va. They shared many fond memories. We thank God for giving us such a loving, beautiful soul and we loved her dearly. She was our "sunshine". A celebration of Irene's life and a luncheon will be held on Sunday, September 26 at the American Legion Post 105 at 175 South Mill Street, North East, Pa. beginning at 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The family of Irene would like to bring awareness of the Dixon Fund and ask that any memorial gifts go to them. Tracy and Marshall Dixon and children will be missionaries in Ecuador and hope to leave in March for a stay of four years. Madison "Maddie" Joan Utegg, age 19, of North East, died on Tuesday August 31, 2010 at Hamot Medical Center. She was born on October 11, 2009 in Erie, Pa., to Mark A. and Lisa A. Haskins Utegg of North East. Maddie was a graduate of North East High School Class of 2009 and was currently employed at the Fiddle Inn as a server and bartender. Maddie loved her family, brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by a grandmother, Joan Utegg; an uncle, Dean Utegg, and an aunt, Julie Haskins. Besides her parents, she is survived by brothers, Joseph Utegg and wife Lori of Ripley, Stephen Weigle of North East, and Tyler Utegg of North East; a sister Melissa Weigle and Matt Landon of North East; grandparents, David Norman and wife Barbara of North East, Fred Utegg of Ripley, Jim Haskins and wife Debbie of Erie; nephews, AJ and Daylon; nieces Kyleigh and Kendall; several cousins and aunts and uncles.
