Allen, Marjorie Bender
Marjorie Bender Allen, age 88, formerly of 1007 Marshall Drive, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Village at Luther Square. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, and will be announced Saturday.
Baker, Margaret McAlister
Margaret McAlister Baker, age 81, of 3318 Millfair Road, passed away Saturday May 10th at Hamot Medical Center. She was born in Ireland on March 15, 1927. She owned and operated Baker's Steakhouse in West Springfield before retiring. She was an honorary member of the Presque Isle Garden Club. Margaret enjoyed her flowers, roses, crafts, knitting, sewing and swans. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Richard Baker, her sister Joey and a daughter Mary. Survivors include her sons: Charles, Robert, David, Danny, and Mark; her daughters: Margaret, Charlyne and Marlyne; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Avenue) on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rick Plukett and Rev. Ed Huntley. Caravaglia, Angelo
Angelo Caravaglia, 83, passed away on May 6, 2008, at his residence that he shared with his sister Sanita Soety in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Erie, the son of Luigi and Josephine Milesenna Caravaglia. Angelo served in the US Army during World War II. He then became an accomplish artist recognized for his sculptures, paintings and carvings. He started his education at Cranbrook Academy of Fine Arts in Bloomfield, Michigan from 1946-1950. He then received a Fulbright Grant/Scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy. His studies continued as followed, he received five research grants: Tiffany Grant (graphics), Dr. Francis Onorati (one year award due to bronze casting in Italy) and a Maxwell Gallery Grant to work in FLorence, Italy. His work has been exhibited in over 100 National and International shows and/or galleries. For the next 20 plus years, he taught Art at the University of Utah. He was a well respected Professor and mentor to so many. In addition to his parents, his sister Vita LaTona and brother Louis predeceased him. Angelo is survived by three children Donatello, Jena Silvana, and his five siblings: Thomas of New York City, Frank, Lena Mariella and Lillian Detzel of Erie, Pa., and Santia Soety of Phoenix, Ariz. DeCrappeo, Edward
Edward DeCrappeo passed away Apr. 21, 2008, in Bocca Raton, Fla. Ed was born in 1920 in Schenectady, N.Y. to the late Anthony and Catherine Rosetti DeCrappeo. He was an Aeronautical Engineer with Cessna Aircraft before entering the United States Army Air Force Technical Service Command in World War II. After the war, he returned to college and earned a second bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He then joined the General Electric Company and worked at various assignments in Schenectady N.Y. and Fort Wayne, Ind. When GE moved the Direct Current Motor and Generator department to Erie, he moved his family to Erie. At the Erie GE he was part of the marketing group for DCMG and retired as manager sales after 35 years with the company. During his sales career at GE, Ed traveled the world and developed a love of travel. This was shared with Jean, his wife of 65 years. Together they traveled to Europe, Eastern Europe, the Far East and South America. Ed was a member of many clubs including Lake Shore, Maennerchor, Elks and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Museum of Erie GE History. He was associated with GE ELFUN and GEER groups. He loved sports especially golf, and he fondly remembered playing baseball for his Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He was preceded in death by his son Bruce, daughter Susan and his brothers Tony and Sal. His wife Jean, daughter Patricia and several nieces and nephews survive him. There will be a funeral mass at Holy Cross Church on Wed., May 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Church, P.O. Box 10, Fairview, PA 16415.
Dorich Sr., George E.
George S. Dorich, Sr., age 80, of Erie, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Saint Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on April 26, 1928 son of the late Michael and Mary Strenio Dorich. He graduated from East High School. Served in the U.S. Navy for 11 ½ years. He worked for a long time at Miller Brothers and retired from Geosource. He was very active in the Boy Scouts where he was an assistant scout master. He was very proud to have five sons as eagle scouts and a grandson. He was also proud of his granddaughter who is a silver award girl scout. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all camping at Camp Paridise. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and John Dorich. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia Szulecki Dorich. Five sons, George Dorich, Jr. and his wife Karen, Dale Dorich and his wife Denise, Joe Dorich and his wife Kathy, Tom Dorich and his wife Mary, and Ed Dorich and his wife Janet all of Erie. A daughter, Darlene Seath and her husband Art of Erie. Eleven grandchildren, Kristy Chaplain, Courtney, Andy, Jason, Ambre, Joey, and Kadie Dorich, Justin, Bronte, Sierra and Regina Seath. Four great grandchildren. Three sisters, Betty Ann Wasielewski, Agnes Sturgeon and Marge Sawrey. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at The Francis V. Doutt, Karen N.
Karen N. Doutt A memorial service to honor Karen N. Doutt will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 950 West 7 Street, Erie. Karen died suddenly January 19, 2008 in Ocala Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert A. and Mildred Kelly Henry and her brother Albert Henry. She is survived by her husband Robert L. Doutt; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Dona Doutt; and her grandson, Jared Doutt. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Leon Walter Grzegorzewski, age 76, passed away Saturday morning May 10, 2008, at the Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, Pa. after an extended illness. He resided formerly in Erie. The Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home 701 East avenue is handling arrangements.
Heath, William A. "Bill"
William A. "Bill" Heath, age 64 of North East, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2008. He was born on February 17, 1944 in Sedalia, Mo. the son of the late Glenn Heath, Margaret Bennett Lincoln and James Lincoln. A resident of Erie since 1967, Bill had been employed with International Paper for 24 years. Bill had previously worked with the former Koehler Brewery. He was a long time member of South Harborcreek Untied Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, watching Westerns on TV; was a history buff and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Ruth Morgan Heath; two daughters, Rhonda Rockwell (Hal) of Summerville, S.C. and Jennifer Zdaniewski (Glenn) of Harborcreek Twp.; one son, William E. Heath (Marcy) of Lake City, Pa.; his beloved grandchildren, Denae, Christine, Karly, Payton, Jennifer, Sarah, Angela and Daniel; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Myra Niemeyer (Dave), Sussie Johnson (Bob) and Niki Kinsley (Alan); two brothers, James Lincoln (Virginia) and Glenn Heath (Diane); many nieces nephews and cousins. Phillips, Ronald William
Ronald William Phillips, 53, of Erie, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1955, in Erie, son of Harold Phillips and the late Alice Slater Phillips. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife Sandy Poorman Phillips. Survivors include his father Harold Phillips, three sons, Harold Phillips and twin sons Douglas and Ronnie Philips, and one daughter, Melissa Phillips. Also survived by three brothers, Howard, Donald, and Charles Phillips, three sisters, Cheryl Cassatt, Christine Russell, Bonnie Phillips all of Erie, and many nieces and nephews. Ritchie, Dylan
Dylan Ritchie, age 28 of Fairview, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Erie on October 13, 1979, a son of John and Sandra McDougall Ritchie. Dylan graduated from Girard High School in 1998. He was a truck driver for Wiser Farms. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 742, Fairview, and enjoyed playing softball, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Dylan was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Charlotte Ritchie and Roland McDougall. He is survived by his parents, John Ritchie of Fairview and Sandra McDougall Ritchie of Girard; his grandmother Verna McDougall of Fairview; one sister, Sienna Senyo, two stepbrothers, Gregory Senyo and Michael Senyo, both of Toledo, Ohio and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Sheehan, Russell "Heavy Duty"
Russell "Heavy Duty" Sheehan, age 58 of North East, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 with his children at his side at the home of close friends, John and Tina Rickrode. He was born December 16, 1949 in Riverside, N.J. to the late Russell and Ann Kolwitz Sheehan. He had resided in North East since 1980. Russell attended Holy Cross High School and went on to graduate from Gannon University. He continued to be an avid Gannon Golden Knight basketball fan. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was also a member of the Cascade Park Club. Russell retired in December of 2006 from Schwebel Baking after 24 years of service. He had previously been employed by the Erie Beer Co. and Antlers Bar. Survivors include three sons: Robert O. Perry, Cory R. Sheehan and his fiance Kristin Soder and Jordan W. Sheehan all of North East; one daughter, Sarah A. Sheehan and his "Philadelphia Transplant", Victoria "Juicy" Satchell, both of North East; one grandson, Kaden R., Sheehan. Also survived by one aunt, several cousins and multitudes of friends. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake St., North East, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 81 East Main St., North East. Strike, William S.
William S. Strike, 89, formerly of East 6th Street, died peacefully Saturday evening, May 10th, 2008 at St. Mary's Home of Erie, in the company of his family. Born in Erie February 1st, 1919 he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret Servilla Strike. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a machine operator at General Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1981, was a former member of Holy Family Church, a member of the National Slovak Club, and had been active in Federation Clubs in Erie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Pawlowski Strike; two sisters, Anna and Margaret Strike; and a brother, Michael Strike. Surviving are his wife, Sarah C. Bokol Strike; three sons, William T., wife Beverly, of Girard, Roland R., wife Deborah, of Little Hope, Pa., and Ronald F., wife Laura, of Irving, Texas; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Calling at A. Brugger and Sons Funeral Home, LLP, 845 East 38th Street at Pine Avenue, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Further visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Home of Erie Chapel (Reed Street entrance), 607 East 26th Street. Williamson, Shirley J.
Shirley J. Williamson, age 75, of Harbor Creek, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Twinbrook Medical Center following a short illness. She was born in Denver, Colo. on August 10, 1932 daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Herring. She has resided in Erie for the past 47 years. Shirley was a member of South Harborcreek United Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting and collecting baby dolls. She was a Foster Mother for 28 years with the Erie County Office of Children and Youth and was fondly known as Grandma Shirley and Miss Shirley. Survivors include eight children William "Bud" Jr. (Becky) of Sequin, Texas, Mike (Maureen) of Cape May, N.J., Kenny (Karen) of Newport, N.C., Linda Hines (Bill) and Tommy (Tammy) all of Erie, Bryan, Gary (Harriett) and Robert all of Harbor Creek; four sisters, Dolly Olson of Union City, Edna Lincoln of Duluth, Minn., Alberta Snyder of Buffalo, N.Y. and Carolyn Andrzejewski of Ohio, three brothers, Ellis Herring of Erie, John Herring of N. Carolina and David Herring of New York, 28 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 46 foster children. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband William H. Williamson, Sr., a daughter, Debbie Ann, a son, Raymond, Sr. and a grandson, Raymond E. Williamson, Jr. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc.
