Beck, Gilda Ciotti

Gilda Ciotti Beck, age 81, of Erie, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge after a brief illness. She was born February 23, 1927 in Erie, a daughter of the late George and Josephine Luciano Ciotti. She lived in Erie her entire life. She had worked as the Assistant to the County Executive. She was an active member of the Hamot Aid Society and served on the Board of the Erie County Retirees. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. Beck and her brother, Jon Ciotti. She is survived by one daughter, Christine B. Vitanza of Austin, Texas; two sons, Richard G. Beck of Pittsburgh, Pa. and David J. Beck of New Canaan, Conn.; two sisters, Gerrie Ciacchini and her husband Roland 'Chic" and Jeanette Bickerstaff both of Erie; one brother, George Ciotti and his wife Dorine of Houston, Texas and five grandchildren, Angelo Vitanza, Julianne, Grant, Melissa and Allison Beck. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Eichelsdorfer, Charlotte E.

Charlotte Thomas Eichelsdorfer, age 90, of Erie, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at St. Mary's Home, Gallagher Center. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 8, 1918 to William and Anna Thomas. On December 26, 1938 Charlotte wed Raymond Eichelsdorfer. Charlotte was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Church - Bread of Life Community. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking pies and crooked cakes, and especially spending time with her family. She loved waking family members with her off-key singing, "Come on, get up, get up, wake with the buttercups, it's going to be a great day." In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eichelsdorfer on November 22, 1998; also her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kathleen Eichelsdorfer and her brothers, Evan and William Thomas. Survived by her sons, David Eichelsdorfer and his wife, Nancy of Erie, Pa., Gary Eichelsdorfer and his wife, Mary of Clarks Summit, Pa. and Robert Eichelsdorfer and his wife, Shirley of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren: Eric Eichelsdorfer and his wife, Michelle of Coventry, Conn., Stephen Eichelsdorfer of Kingwood, Texas, John Eichelsdorfer and his wife, Muxia of Greenbrook, N.J., Scott Eichelsdorfer of Washington, D.C., Susan Eichelsdorfer Wolfe of Erie, Pa. and Lynette Harmon and her husband, Brian of Taylors, SC; great-grandchildren, Jasmyn Eichelsdorfer, Morgan and Matthew Eichelsdorfer and Tyler and Joshua Harmon. Heslop, Delores M. "Suzie"

Delores M. "Suzie" Heslop, age 73, of Harborcreek Twp., fell peacefully asleep on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Vincent Health Center following an extended illness. She was born on June 14, 1934 in Punxsutawney, Pa., daughter of the late Charles LeRoy and Arabell Enterline Alcorn. A resident of Harborcreek since 1964, Delores had been employed with Penn State Behrend for 20 years in Food & Housing. She was a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God where she was active with the Joy Group. Delores enjoyed gardening, reading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's many sporting events. Delores was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles O. Heslop, Jr.; one sister; and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Forsythe (Roger) of North East, Pa.; two sons, Randy Heslop and his companion Mary Lou of Findley Lake, N.Y., Kevin Heslop (Marie) of Harborcreek Twp.; four sisters, four brothers; eight grandchildren, Sharon, Jason, Joseph, Kirk, Allen, Michael, Angela and Matthew; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Alexa; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kosturick, Marie Agnes

Marie Agnes Kosturick, 88, of Conneaut Lake, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Andover Village, Andover, Ohio. She was born May 2, 1920 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Alexander and Josephine Tino Euliano. She married Andrew Kosturick August 1, 1942 and he preceded her in death January 28, 2001. She was a 1936 graduate of Meadville High School at the age of 16. She worked at Conneaut Lake Park, was credit manager at Sears in Meadville for over 20 years, was bookkeeper of Kosturick Construction Company, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Reale Club for 77 years. A great cook who was known for her cooking, she enjoyed camping and camp fires, loved life and especially loved her family. Marie was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, Conneaut Lake and its Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Marie Kozlowsky and a son, Andrew M. Kosturick, both of Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, Sonya L. Meurer and her husband Ted, Janine Marie Kozlowsky, Janice Carol Corner and her husband Daniel, John A. Kozlowsky, and Andrew S. Kosturick; three great-grandchildren, Maria and Madeline Corner and John Joseph Kozlowsky; a sister, Madeline (Red) Simonetta of Meadville; a brother, Tommy Euliano and his wife Tillie of San Diego, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Clarice Euliano of Erie; a brother-in-law, James Hall of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Cashner; two brothers, Marshall C. Euliano and Dr. John J. Euliano, Sr.; and two sisters, Alice Hall and Theresa Anselmo. Ledden Sr., Jay A.

Jay A. Ledden, Sr., age 88, of Indiana, formerly of Erie and Bradford, died Friday, May 09, 2008 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home. He was born 1919 in McKean Co. to Clarence and Vera Long Ledden. Mr. Ledden was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Erie, having served as head usher for many years. A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Navy. While a resident of Bradford, he was self-employed in the insurance industry. After moving he was also a district sales manager for Nationwide, and a sales representative for various insurance agencies. He loved the game of golf and dancing with his wife. After many lessons he perfected his golf game and dancing technique. Jay is survived by one daughter and four sons, Carol A. Michael and husband Paul, Indiana; Jay Ledden, Jr., and wife Barb, Levittown; James Ledden and wife Cathy, Valdese, N.C., Michael Ledden, Erie; Douglas Ledden and wife Myra, New Albany, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Grace Beatty Ledden in 2006, by his grandson Braden Michael in 2007, and by his brother Clarence "Hap" in 1976. Friends will be received on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Bernard R. C. Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Lisik the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.

Loringer, Helen "Tango"

Helen "Tango" Surgeon Loringer, age 89, a resident of Fairview passed away Thursday May 8, 2008 at her home. She was born on August 25, 1918 in Erie the daughter of the late William and Mary Kenehan Surgeon. A lifelong resident of Erie, Helen and her late husband, Alex H. Loringer, were longtime members of the the Siebenbuerger Club and enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom dancing. They also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Besides her parents and her husband Alex who died in 2001, Helen was also preceded in death by two brothers; William and Benjamin Surgeon. Helen is survived by a daughter Roselyn Schenk and her husband David of Girard and a son David Loringer and his wife Carol of Albion. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Monday at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. Mong, Mary Margaret Bartholow

Margaret Bartholow Mong, age 81, of North East, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008. She was born May 20, 1926 in King, Pa. to the late Bruce Howard and Lillian Brumbaugh Bartholow. Mary was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in North East where she had previously taught Sunday School and was a board member of the Women's Society. She enjoyed bird watching, sunflowers and nature. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Mong. Survivors include two sons: Rick Mong and wife Becky of North East and Bruce Mong and wife Jeanne of Erie; one daughter: Judy Faulkner of Placentia, Calif., three sisters: Violet Souders of Monaca, Pa., Anna Mae Bray of North East, Pa., and Jean Perdue of South Ripley, N.Y.; five grandchildren: David Angelotti, Sabrina Yager, Brooke Lander, Jeremy Mong and Amy Mong; four great-grandchildren: Levi, Eva, Althea and Kegan and several nieces and nephews. Reichart, Linda L.

Linda L. Reichart, age 58, of Erie died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Fairview Manor after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Erie on March 27, 1950 the daughter of Frank E. and Julie Dudash Reichart of Edinboro. She was a graduate of Edinboro University and most recently was employed as a caseworker in the Erie County Department of Public Welfare. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, and all crafts. Besides her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Dawn Mohler, and her husband, Christopher, of Erie; one son, Trenton Semon, of Erie; two sisters, Julie Gould, of Edinboro and Deborah Testi and her husband, Thomas, of Fairview; two brothers, Frank Reichart, of Cambridge Springs, and Timothy Reichart, of Edinboro; three grandchildren, Carson, Delaney, and Maggie Mohler. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Reichert Sr., Austin William "Bill"

Austin William "Bill" Reichert, Sr., 74 of Erie, Pa. died Wednesday May 7th, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 28th, 1933 in Erie, Pennsylvania and was the son of Bernice Emily Austin Reichert and Chester K. Reichert, Sr. He attended Strong Vincent High School, and graduated from Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Massachusetts. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955. He retired from American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) in 1993 after 34 years and upon retiring became an employee of the Erie Zoo. He claimed to have driven the fastest train at the zoo for nine years running, having also rebuilt and refurbished Engine #42 during 2004. Photography was one of the hobbies he loved, using his pictures to make cards, calendars and framed art. His love of making clocks and woodworking gave him great satisfaction. He served as a Nuclear Weapons Officer on board the USS Hancock CVA 19 as a line officer, and later taught at the Nuclear Weapons Training Center Pacific, Naval Air Station, Coronado, California, retiring as a Lieutenant. In 1960 he graduated from Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies, Oak Ridge, Tenn. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, a member of the Erie Rotary Club, the Erie Cemetery Board, a Corporator of Saint Vincent Health Center, past Director of the Erie United Way, a past President of the Erie Community Blood Bank and taught the Dale Carnegie Course. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester K. Reichert, Jr. in 2006. Survivors include his wife Trudy, his wife of 52 years, sons; Austin W. Reichert, Jr. (Leslie) Northbridge Mass., Steven F. Reichert (Michelle), a daughter, Ann E. Sokoloff (Mark) of Erie, Grand children Jennifer, Lindsey and Geoffrey Reichert; Sarah and Mitchell Reichert; Alexandra and Andrew Sokoloff, a brother, Douglas A. Reichert of Pittsburgh, a cousin Jack Reichert of Texas, several nieces and nephews, as well as the B.I.L.'s of the P.E.O family and Sam Adams. Rigazzi, Adolph J.

Adolph J. Rigazzi, age 82, a resident of Erie died Thursday May 8, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Adolph was born on July 22, 1925 in Erie the son of the late Paul and Marietta Clement Rigazzi. Adolph was a graduate of Erie Tech High School where he ran both low and high hurdles, but his real love was the game of baseball. He was one of the youngest pitchers in the Erie City League in the 1930's having pitched at the age of 11. He also pitched in the Industrial League. He coached Little League for 25 years, having been named Coach of the Year in 1961. Adolph bequeathed his love of the sport to his grandson Andrew. Andrew was proud to have his grandfather present at every MYAA game where he played and umpired. Adolph served with the U.S. Army. He worked at the Continental Rubber Works, where he served as Treasurer for the United Rubber Workers Local 61. He retired from work at the Erie County Domestic Relations Office. He also served as Treasurer for Erie's Democratic Party 6th Ward for 20 years. Adolph is survived by his wife Josephine Laskoff Rigazzi; a son, Paul Rigazzi of Phoenix, Ariz. and; a daughter, Catherine Jeannerat and her husband David of Erie along with three brothers; Anthony Rigazzi and his wife Gloria, Louis Rigazzi (Joe Krozak), and Esterino Rigazzi, all of Erie. He is further survived by a grandson Andrew Musarra and two step-granddaughters Adrienne and Christina Jeannerat, along with several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph-Bread of Life Catholic Church. Salzer, Gloria H.

Gloria H. Salzer, age 80, of Erie passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Twinbrook Medical Center. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 28, 1927, a daughter of the late George and Claire Butters Hunt. Over the years, Gloria worked at General Electric, the Boston Store, Holiday Shop, Super Duper, Festival Foods and Tops Market. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Salzer on August 11, 2007, a son Michael Salzer and a brother George Hunt. Gloria is survived by a daughter, Carol Strasser, husband Jeffrey of Erie; three sons, Donald Salzer, David Salzer and Frederick Salzer, all of Erie; two grandchildren, Michael Salzer and Angelena Velez and a brother, Lance Hunt. Seaman, Karen J. Panetta

Karen J. Panetta Seaman, age 56, of Erie, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center after a lifelong illness. She was born in Erie on August 28, 1951 a daughter of Genevieve Panetta and the late Carmen Panetta. She was a 1970 graduate from Strong Vincent High School and retired from Saint Vincent Health Center where she was employed in Purchasing as a buyer. She is survived by her husband, Richard Seaman, two step-daughters, Kimberly Creese and her husband Matt of Virginia and Hallie Lobaugh and her husband Jonathan of New York. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, Mark Panetta and his wife Amy of Indiana and John Panetta and his wife Dawn of Erie and a sister, Holly Augostino of Erie. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Karen was blessed by caregivers, Nancy Fioretti, Laura Jackson, Fran Segal, Lora Thaler and Jerry Cheesebourgh. She was able to stay in her home because of the care received from them. Friends may call on Saturday morning at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. George Church at 12 noon. Elaine M. Senger, age 91, of Erie, died Thursday May 8, 2008 at St. Mary's Home, The Gallagher Center. The Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Smith, Beulah L.

Beulah L. Smith, 87, of 2374 Sunnyside Rd., Findley Lake, N.Y., died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center, in Erie, Pa. She was born December 14, 1920, in Elgin, Pa., the daughter of the late Richard & Bernice Davis Lewis. Beulah graduated from Corry High School in 1938, then attended Jaqua Beauty School, in Erie, Pa. in 1939. She owned and operated The Lake Beauty Shoppe, in Findley Lake for 50 years. She was a member of the Acacia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #96. She had been a member of the Findley Lake & Mina Historical Society, and was a member of the Young at Heart. Beulah was a member of the Findley Lake United Methodist Church, and she was a former member of the Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Beulah had enjoyed bowling and had bowled in numerous leagues, she enjoyed music and was a self taught piano player. She is survived by two sons Thomas (wife, Patricia) Smith, of Westfield, N.Y., Daniel (friend, Genie) Smith, of Erie, Pa. Two daughters, Rebecca (husband, Dennis) Brumagin, of Findley Lake, N.Y., Virginia (husband, Edward) Persons, of Clymer, N.Y. Six grandchildren, Jesse (wife, Jodi) Smith, Nashville, Tenn., Bradley Smith, Norwich, Vt., Alexey (wife, Melissa) Brumagin, Tyler Brumagin, Philip (friend, Kim Kantola) Persons., all of Findley Lake, and Sandra (husband, Marc) Larson, of Erie, Pa. Seven great grandchildren, Evan, Emily, Elizabeth, Erin, Gregory, Dakota and Makala. Five sisters, Carriebelle Tompkins, Dorothy Harrington, Audrey Allen, Patricia King-Peters, and Sandra Allen. Four brothers, Richard Norman Lewis, Paul Lewis, Malcolm "Kelly" Lewis and David Llewelyn Lewis. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband, Lewis Charles Smith , whom she married April 29, 1939, died February 18, 1999. One sister, Evelyn McCray and three brothers, Timothy Owen Lewis, Edward Lewis, and Charles Lewis. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Findley Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Pegan, pastor, of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Mina Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, where an Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Findley Lake United Methodist Church, the Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of one's choice.

Strang, Kenneth S. "Kenny"

Kenneth "Kenny" S. Strang, age 16, of Ripley, N.Y. died Thursday, May 8, 2008 as the result of an accident. He was born in Camden, N.J. on April 23, 1992, the son of Gloria Rearick Strang and the late Harry Strang. Kenny attended Ripley Central School and enjoyed playing video games and watching MTV. Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Benjamin, Ricky and Ronald Strang; his sisters, Patricia Malone and Becky Mansell; his grandmother, Juanita Rearick; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nelson Plymire. Streich, Dorothy B.

Dorothy B. Streich, 94, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008 at Edinboro Manor. She was born in Ridgway, Pa. on February 6, 1914, daughter of the late Ardilla and Burt Mayes. She married Walter P. Streich on June 3, 1932, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1999. Dorothy was the last member of her family. She loved music, camping, bowling and boating. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Betty Manno, (Richard) of Ridgway and Peggy Clement (James) of Cranesville; four grandchildren Ken Clement (Tammy), Lori Zinnamosca (Brian), David Clement and Steven Clement (Deadra); 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline in infancy; two brothers, Hobart and Robert Mayes; and two sisters, Clara Zimmerman and Ella Mayes. No calling hours will be held. A Memorial Service will be held at the Cranesville Bible Church on Friday, May 16th at 1 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street. Zawistoski, Leonard B. "Bubba"

Leonard B."Bubba" Zawistoski, age 76, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center. Born in Erie on April 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Julian and Martha (Wisinski) Zawistoski. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a senior designer at American Sterilizer Company and retired in 1993. Leonard enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, and traveling. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Zygmunt, Raymond, Stanley, Charles and Stephen Zawistoski, and Joseph Lane, and two sisters, Victoria P. Filipowski and Theresa Brenner. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jenny J. (Salorino) Zawistoski; three children, Michael Zawistoski, of West Warwick, R.I., Mary A. Grode, and Kathleen A. Oldach, husband Scott, all of Erie; seven grandchildren, Mark and Adam Grode, Kelly, Christopher, Amy and Ryan Oldach, and Andrew Zawistoski; one brother Charles Zawistoski, of Erie; and two sisters, Mary Sybyl, of Arvada, Colo., and Helen Zawistoski, of Erie; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. A prayer services will be held there Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. -
