Bobrowicz, Anthony M.

Anthony M. Bobrowicz, 85, formerly of Wattsburg Road, Greene Township, died on Thursday evening May 1, 2008 at his residence at the Soldiers' & Sailors' Home in Erie. A resident of the Erie area all of his life, he was born in Erie on May 10, 1922 a son of the late Anthony and Agnes Terlecki Bobrowicz. Anthony had worked as a machinist at the Erie Engine Co. for 30 years and retired in 1981. He had been the President of the local steelworkers union, AFL-CIO Local # 3084 for 15 years and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a proud Army veteran of WW II serving in the 271st Field Artillery Battalion of the First Cavalry Division. Anthony was awarded four bronze stars and saw duty in the South Pacific at New Guinea, Luzon, Philippines, and Bismarck Archipelago in the Admirality Islands. He was a member of the first troops to enter Tokyo. Survivors include a son, Thomas Bobrowicz and his partner Ruth Bennett of Erie; a daughter, Bridget Johnston and her husband David of Latrobe, Pa.; a brother, James Bobrowicz and his wife of Rita of Erie; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Regina Modzelewski Bobrowicz on January 23, 1996 and a sister Stella Dietrich. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Saturday from 12 o'clock noon until services there at 2:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Bock, David J.

David J. Bock, age 82 of Cambridge, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Riverside Methodist Hospital Hospital in Columbus. He was born on September 22, 1925 in Erie, Pa., son of the late Mahlon Bock and Margaret (Herrman) Bock. Mr. Bock was a Metallurgical Engineer for the former Foote Mineral Corporation. He served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was a member of: the St. Benedict's Catholic Church; the Cambridge Country Club; the D.A.V.; and sang in the St. Benedict's Choir. David was preceeded in death by: his wife, Ruth Joan (Bensinger) Bock in 2007, they were married on July 15, 1950; two sisters, Ruth Purcell and Mary Jane McKeand. He is survived by: three sons, James (Janine) Bock of Cambridge, Ohio, Raymond (Judy) Bock of Columbus, Ohio, and Stephen (Lisa) Bock of North Lewisburg, Ohio; one daughter, Nancy (Ryan) Harvey of Cambridge, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Bock of Calif., and Donald Bock of Erie, Pa.; five grandchildren, Christopher and Lee Ann McCabe, Becky Harlor, Jenny Evanichko, Rachel and Andy Bock, and Ricky and Timmy Harvey; two great grandchildren, Riley and Emma Evanichko. Memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 31 at the St. Benedicts Catholic Church with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial in Northwood Cemetery. DiOrazio, Michael J.

Michael J. DiOrazio, age 86, of North East, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008. He was born January 7, 1922 in North East, Pa. to the late Jack and Josephine DaSalvo DiOrazio. He had resided in North East his entire life. Michael had been previously employed by The Electric Materials Co., and Welch Foods. He had also worked locally trimming grapes. Michael was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #4789 and the American Legion Lakeshore Post #1206. He was a member of St. Gregory R.C. Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Anielia Kosko DiOrazio; one son, Jack DiOrazio and one sister, Angela Laura. Survivors include two sons: Ron DiOrazio of North East, Pa., James DiOrazio of Erie, Pa., one daughter, Josephine Christie and husband Gordon of Ohio. Also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Cemetery. The Rev. David Prenatt, Pastor, St. Gregory R.C. Church will officiate. The William D. Fuller, James Arthur (Art)

James Arthur (Art) Fuller, 87, of P.O. Box 305, Conneaut Lake, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville. He was born in Crossingville March 30, 1921, a son of the late William W. and Mary E. Swaney Fuller. He married Dorothy Irene Huya September 28, 1946. A graduate of the former Edinboro High School, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving from 1942 to 1945 primarily in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Art worked at Talon, Ernie's Service Station, Cranesville, Mike Hoch Building Supply, Crossingville, was owner and operator of the Red and White Grocery Store, Conneaut Lake from 1954 to 1965, and was a meat cutter from 1965 to 1985 at the Super Duper Grocery Store and its successors in the Park Avenue Plaza, Meadville. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake and was a former church usher. Survivors, in addition to his wife Irene of 61 years, include a son, Terry L. Fuller and his wife Kathy of Conneaut Lake; three grandchildren, Brent A. Fuller and his wife Kristen, Kevin L. Fuller and his wife Leigh, and Heather M. Fuller and her fiancée Jason Tenney; four great-grandchildren; a brother, George A. Fuller and his wife Barbara of Cranesville; a sister, Ethel Bertram and her husband R. David of East Brady; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Blaine E. Fuller; a sister, Catherine Frndak; and three brothers, Walter, Gerald, and Joel Fuller. Haines, Margaret

Margaret Haines, age 92, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at her residence in Erie. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 22, 1915, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Bruszo Deutsch. She had lived in Erie since 1937. She was a graduate of East High School in Akron, Ohio, Class of 1933 and was a Licensed Practical Nurse with St. Vincent Health Center in the Pediatric Unit, and was known as Grandma, until her retirement in 1977. She was an avid traveler, reader, enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. The widow of Daniel M. Haines, who passed away in 1985, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Deutsch; her sister, Helen Gehres; her cousin, Margaret Nagy and her granddaughter, Linda Neely. Margaret is survived by three daughters, Naomi J. Banko (Emil) of Corona, Calif., Joan Hull (Gilbert) of Millcreek Twp. and Damaris L. Haines of Erie; one son, Michael Haines (Jill) of Wattsburg; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and four nieces. No calling hours will be observed. Heslop, Delores M. "Suzie"

Delores M. "Suzie" Heslop, age 73, of Harborcreek Twp., fell peacefully asleep on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Vincent Health Center following an extended illness. She was born on June 14, 1934 in Punxsutawney, Pa., daughter of the late Charles LeRoy and Arabell Enterline Alcorn. A resident of Harborcreek since 1964, Delores had been employed with Penn State Behrend for 20 years in Food & Housing. She was a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God where she was active with the Joy Group. Delores enjoyed gardening, reading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's many sporting events. Delores was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles O. Heslop, Jr.; one sister; and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Forsythe (Roger) of North East, Pa.; two sons, Randy Heslop and his companion Mary Lou of Findley Lake, N.Y., Kevin Heslop (Marie) of Harborcreek Twp.; four sisters, four brothers; eight grandchildren, Sharon, Jason, Joseph, Kirk, Allen, Michael, Angela and Matthew; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Alexa; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hogue, Ella Mae

Ella Mae Hogue, 86, of North East, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Ball Pavilion. She was born on July 15, 1921 in North East, Pa. a daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Ricart Sandhoff. Mae was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North East, where she was a member and past president of the Ladies Aid of the church. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies at the church and going to the cabin she and her late husband owned. Mae was always ready to help family and friends with anything they needed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Hogue in 1994, five brothers and four sisters. Mae is survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Hopkins, James A.

James A. Hopkins, age 54, of Erie died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Golden Living Center. He was born June 30, 1953 in Whitefish, Montana to the late Dominic Hopkins and Lorna Hopkins-Archer. James was the kind of person that would make you feel at ease whenever you were around him. He was always there for his family whenever he was needed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in the Vietnam War. James had many talents; he was an Institutional Chef, Mechanic & most recently an OTR Driver; he also worked for WalMart Superstore in Harborcreek and DHL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Melvin Archer, Sr. James is survived by his wife, Bonnie, two children from a previous marriage & four step-children from this marriage. James was a Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather. He is survived by his brother, Johnnie G. O'Connor (Jule); his sister, Lorna M. Pool (Chuck), all of Los Angeles, Calif. and his very best friend, Rudolph (Rudy) Vignes of PA. Kaczmarek, Bertha J.

Bertha J. Kaczmarek, 89, of Millcreek Township, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at St. Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge. She was born on January 21, 1919, in Erie, daughter of the late Frank J. and Veronica (Pawlowski) Przybyszewski. She retired from Erie Insurance. She enjoyed gardening. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alois Kaczmarek in 1981, a brother Frank Przybyszewski, a sister, Dorothy Kinecki and a stepsister, Edna Gostomski. Survivors include a daughter Joan Bagnoni and husband Dan of Coral Springs, Fla., two sons, Norbert Kaczmarek and wife Patricia of Erie, and Thomas Kaczmarek and wife Patricia of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Edward J. Frances E. Osiecki Kala, age 88, passed away Tuesday May 5, 2008 at the Village at Luther Square. She was born September 26, 1919 a daughter of the late John and Stella Malinowski Osiecki. Frances was a member of St. Ann Church. She was involved in the J.F.K. Senior Citizen and East Side and West Side Senior Citizen. Besides her parents Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Kala; two sisters, Elsie Szklinski and Sophie Perschler; four brothers, Steve, Stanley, Walter and Leo Osiecki. Survivors include a son, Walter Kala Jr. of Erie; two daughters, Irene Anderson husband Richard of Landisville, Pa. and Kathy Dyke husband Thomas of Waterford; a sister, Ann Osiecki of Erie; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mildred Louise English Lane, age 85, of North East went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday May 7, 2008. She was born on September 30, 1922 in Girard, Pennsylvania to the late Harry and Ocie Hahn English. Mildred loved her children and family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, flowers, and reading. Preceded in death is her husband Willard Lane; infant daughter Patrica Braley; infant son Bobby Pattison; sisters Marie Sompi, May English, and Joyce Olesnak; brothers Benjamin English and Charles English. Survivors include daughters Judith Martina and husband Louis of North East, Linda Hale of North East, and Michele Hart of North East; sons James Braley of North East, Thomas Braley and wife Beverly of North East, Patrick Pattison and wife Cindy of Jamestown, New York; step-daughters Shelby Kylor and husband Ernie of Three Springs, Pa., Sonia Park and husband Bernard of Dillsburgh, Pa., Sharon Tefft of North East Pa., Sara Laughman and husband Bernie of New Oxford, Pa., and Susan Kohler of Erie; step-son Ronald Lane and wife Linda of North East; brother-in-law William Olesnak and sister-in-law Dores English; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Limes, Heavenly Dallas

Heavenly Dallas Limes, was born into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday May 6, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center. She was the daughter of Timothy J. and Yolanda M. Muldrew Limes of Erie. Heavenly was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather William Pasco Adams and her paternal grandfather Louis Hill. In addition to her parents she is survived by her maternal great grandmother, Roberta Muldrew of Hope, Ark., her maternal grandmother, Nancy C. Adams of Erie, her paternal grandmother, Alice Limes of Washington, DC; her sisters, Timia J. Limes of Washington, DC., Ashley Allen, Teona Allen and Anetia Stewart all of Erie; her brothers, Tyshun Mendenhall of Erie and Timothy J. Limes Jr. of Washington, DC; also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Erie Cemetery on Saturday at 11:30AM, Rev. Lohse, Marjorie

Marjorie Lohse died at home on May 2, 2008. Daughter of the late Rudolph and Ivy Lohse, Marge grew up in Erie, Pa. She moved to NYC in the 1950's and to Greenburgh in Westchester County, N.Y. in 1987. Following a Master's Degree from New York University she held positions with various non-profit agencies and worked for over 30 years as a social worker at Blythedale Children's Hospital. Marge's family includes her beloved sister, Jane Kressel, brothers, James Lohse, and the late Robert Lohse, sister-in-law Dorothy Lohse, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. For more than 20 years she shared a home with loving friends Marcia Gellert, Marion Heim and the late Chris Williams. Marge's interests and talents were many. She loved old books, gardening, cooking, puttering, the arts, politics, family and friends. Donations may be made in Marge's memory to the Calvary Hospital and Hospice, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.

Mong, Mary Margaret Bartholow

Mary Margaret Bartholow Mong, age 81, of North East, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008. She was born May 20, 1926 in King, Pa. to the late Bruce Howard and Lillian Brumbaugh Bartholow. Mary was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in North East where she had previously taught Sunday School and was a board member of the Women's Society. She enjoyed bird watching, sunflowers and nature. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Mong. Survivors include two sons: Rick Mong and wife Becky of North East and Bruce Mong and wife Jeanne of Erie; one daughter: Judy Faulkner of Placentia, Calif., three sisters: Violet Souders of Monaca, Pa., Anna Mae Bray of North East, Pa., and Jean Perdue of South Ripley, N.Y.; five grandchildren: David Angelotti, Sabrina Yager, Brooke Lander, Jeremy Mong and Amy Mong; four great-grandchildren: Levi, Eva, Althea and Kegan and several nieces and nephews. Rakowski, Lorraine S.

Lorraine S. Rakowski, a resident of Idyllbrook Village in Millcreek, passed away Monday, May 6, at her residence. Born in St. Mary's, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Homer and Mollie (Calvert) Sigler. A graduate of Kittanning High School, she worked in the offices of Erie General Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Saint Patrick Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus A. "Ted" Rakowski, in 2004; and by two brothers, James and George Sigler. Survivors include a sister, Arlene Karlinchak, husband, George, of Erie; a niece, Lori Lesniewski, husband, Mike, of Millcreek; two nephews, Kenneth G. Karlinchak, wife, Krystal, and their son, great-nephew, Jackson, of Charlotte, N.C., and Richard J. Karlinchak, of Huntersville, N.C.; and further survived by several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends. Reichert Sr., Austin William "Bill"

Austin William "Bill" Reichert, Sr., 74 of Erie, Pa. died Wednesday May 7th, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 28th, 1933 in Erie, Pennsylvania and was the son of Bernice Emily Austin Reichert and Chester K. Reichert, Sr. He attended Strong Vincent High School, and graduated from Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Massachusetts. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955. He retired from American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) in 1993 after 34 years and upon retiring became an employee of the Erie Zoo. He claimed to have driven the fastest train at the zoo for nine years running, having also rebuilt and refurbished Engine #42 during 2004. Photography was one of the hobbies he loved, using his pictures to make cards, calendars and framed art. His love of making clocks and woodworking gave him great satisfaction. He served as a Nuclear Weapons Officer on board the USS Hancock CVA 19 as a line officer, and later taught at the Nuclear Weapons Training Center Pacific, Naval Air Station, Coronado, California, retiring as a Lieutenant. In 1960 he graduated from Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies, Oak Ridge, Tenn. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, a member of the Erie Rotary Club, the Erie Cemetery Board, a Corporator of Saint Vincent Health Center, past Director of the Erie United Way, a past President of the Erie Community Blood Bank and taught the Dale Carnegie Course. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester K. Reichert, Jr. in 2006. Survivors include his wife Trudy, his wife of 52 years, sons; Austin W. Reichert, Jr. (Leslie) Northbridge Mass., Steven F. Reichert (Michelle), a daughter, Ann E. Rigazzi, Adolph J.

Adolph J. Rigazzi, age 82, a resident of Erie died Thursday May 8, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral arrangements will be announced Saturday by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St.

Robinson, Pamela

Pamela Jean Burger Robingson, 51, a 10 year resident of Glen Burnie, Md., and a dietician for eight years at Baltimore Washington Medical Center passed away Apr. 21, 2008, at BWMC after a lengthy illness. Pamela was born Mar. 3, 1957, in York, Pa., to the late Donald and Mary Mallard Burger. She graduated in 1976 from Titusville High School in Pennsylvania. She lived in San Francisco before moving to Glen Burnie. Considered a simple and sweet woman who was dedicated to her family, she enjoyed fishing, cooking, embroidery, sewing and quilting. Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Ricky Robinson, three sons, Jeremy R. Robinson of Dover, Del., Matthew A. Robinson and James Heffington of Glen Burnie, Md., and one daughter Sherry Warner of Erie, Pa. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Fink Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tate Cancer Center, Baltimore Washington Medical Center, 301 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

Gloria H. Salzer, age 80, of Erie passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Twinbrook Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street. -

Seaman, Karen J. Panetta

Karen J. Panetta Seaman, age 56, of Erie, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center after a lifelong illness. She was born in Erie on August 28, 1951 a daughter of Genevieve Panetta and the late Carmen Panetta. She was a 1970 graduate from Strong Vincent High School and retired from Saint Vincent Health Center where she was employed in Purchasing as a buyer. She is survived by her husband, Richard Seaman, two step-daughters, Kimberly Creese and her husband Matt of Virginia and Hallie Lobaugh and her husband Jonathan of New York. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, Mark Panetta and his wife Amy of Indiana and John Panetta and his wife Dawn of Erie and a sister, Holly Augostino of Erie. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Karen was blessed by caregivers, Nancy Fioretti, Laura Jackson, Fran Segal, Lora Thaler and Jerry Cheesebourgh. She was able to stay in her home because of the care received from them. Friends may call on Saturday morning at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. George Church at 12 noon. Sloboda, Amelia M.

Amelia M. Sloboda, age 90, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Village at Luther Square. She was born in Erie on April 22, 1918, daughter of the late Francisco and Sabitina Chipico Iesue. She was a member of St. Mark Evangelist R.C. Church, a homemaker and loved gardening. The widow of Joseph F. Sloboda, she is survived by one grandson, John Therasse (Lisa) of Edinboro; two great-granddaughters, Kristen Pierce and Kaitlyn Therasse; one great-great-granddaughter, Cassaundra Pierce; three sisters, Anita Iesue of Lawrence Park, Helen York (Richard) of Erie and Frances Iesue (James) of Erie; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristina Therasse; three sisters, Irma Sbarra, Mary Iesue and Aida Mannela; and three brothers, James, Anthony and Arthur Iesue. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mark the Evangelist R.C. Wilson, Clarence W.

Clarence W. Wilson, 90, formerly of the Friendship Towers, died on Tuesday morning, May 6, at his residence at the Elmwood Presbyterian Lodge following a long illness. He was born in Elkhart County, Ind. on July 25, 1917, a son of the late Harley and Cora Stine Wilson. Chuck was a WW II Army veteran, serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern theater. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he enjoyed painting, driving, and model cars. Chuck was retired and had been a driver for the Erie County Book Mobile. Survivors include two sons, Franklin Rogers and his wife, Shelby, of Kinsey, Ala., and C. Randall (Bud) Rogers of Waterford; two daughters, Erna (Penney) Dias and Allora Biebel and her husband, Gerald, all of Erie; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Esther Huber Wilson, on January 22, 2003; a sister, Nellie Wilson; two brothers, Marvin and Herbert Wilson. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 3952 Pine Ave., on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the pastor, Rev. James Eaton officiating. Zawistoski, Leonard B. "Bubba"

Leonard B."Bubba" Zawistoski, age 76, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center. Born in Erie on April 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Julian and Martha (Wisinski) Zawistoski. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a senior designer at American Sterilizer Company and retired in 1993. Leonard enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, and traveling. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Zygmunt, Raymond, Stanley, Charles and Stephen Zawistoski, and Joseph Lane, and two sisters, Victoria P. Filipowski and Theresa Brenner. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jenny J. (Salorino) Zawistoski; three children, Michael Zawistoski, of West Warwick, R.I., Mary A. Grode, and Kathleen A. Oldach, husband Scott, all of Erie; seven grandchildren, Mark and Adam Grode, Kelly, Christopher, Amy and Ryan Oldach, and Andrew Zawistoski; one brother Charles Zawistoski, of Erie; and two sisters, Mary Sybyl, of Arvada, Colo., and Helen Zawistoski, of Erie; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. A prayer services will be held there Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. -
